Special Olympics Dental Health Tent

Special Olympics, Special Smiles, Summer Olympic Games in Mt Pleasant at the CMU stadium.

The event is May 29th and 30th, that's a Friday and Saturday. We will be conducting oral health screenings, applying fluoride varnish, and doing Oral Health Education for all athletes. This is a perfect time to strengthen our education and acceptance for treatment of this special needs population. We are in need of dental students, dental assisting students  and dental hygiene students, dentist, dental assistants and registered dental hygienists, as well as regular volunteers.

The hours will be from 8 am-4 pm on Friday and 8 am- noon on Saturday. If you will be volunteering for both days, we can arrange shared hotel rooms through the Special Olympics organization. Volunteers need to be 18 years of age or older to participate.

We will be set up in the fieldhouse in what's called "The Healthy Village" alongside vision, hearing, and other health related services for the athletes. Make no mistake, these athletes have competed hard in their local, county, and district areas to make it to the state level competitions.
